How many years can a Betta Fish live to be?
I want a fish that can live long and if a betta cant live long what other fish can?
A properly cared for betta in a heated and well maintained tank can live 10+ years. I personally had one live to 12 years. If not properly cared for, like a betta in an unheated unfiltered bowl, you can expect it to waste away within only a few years.
Many fish live for extended periods. Goldfish can live many years, I think the record is over 40 years, and many koi can live over 100 years! Angelfish in a proper tank can live over 15 years. Many other cichlid species will also live extended lives.
Many loaches will live long lives. My mother in law has a few clown loaches that are over 20 years old!
Basically any small fish that is not an annual fish (like many of the killifish species) that is properly cared for can live several years, and many larger fish if properly cared for can live for decades.
